Thread lifting is a minimal invasive procedure in which non-allergenic lifting threads are injected under the skin to tighten it, also elevating or lifting structures, and stimulating new collagen production as well. Most threads dissolve in months, so there are considered transient solution with discrete results.

Dr. Villamarín usually recommends as a priority other alternative solutions to transient lifting threads, also minimally invasive to lift sagging tissues, such as the ponytail endoscopic facial micro facelift or other similar procedures, which offer natural, long-lasting (several years) and more noticeable results. Furthermore, the accumulation of annual economic costs with tension threads (not exempt from risks such as fibrosis and granulomas) can even exceed the cost of a single pony tail or similar endoscopic microlifting procedure and under local anesthesia in a single session.

The treatment of thread lifting is carried out in consultation and after local anesthesia, Dr. Villamarín usually inserts several vector threads after a detailed previous study of the patient. There may be transient itching, burning, bruising or swelling after treatment.
