What is a neck rejuvenation?

The main changes in the neck with age are the accumulation of fat in the neck, with or without a double chin. In older people, there is also usually sagging of the neck skin, muscular and glandular distension, bands and generalized folds. The skin of the neck and décolleté can be altered by sun damage and requires rejuvenation procedures for the neck and décolleté without surgery associated with surgical procedures. Dr. Villamarín will study each case to decide if the patient may be an ideal candidate for any of these procedures and performed under local anesthesia, in order to achieve excellent results.

Am I a good candidate for neck rejuvenation in Madrid and Valencia?

Candidates for a neck rejuvenation procedure should have moderate to severe sagging neck changes, be in good general health, have no goiter or cervical disease, and have realistic expectations. They should not suffer from skin, infectious, immune diseases, hypertension or uncontrolled diabetes. It is strongly recommended not to smoke from 1 month before surgery to 1 month after surgery.

Dr. Villamarín will meet with each patient individually to determine if they may benefit from neck rejuvenation. These procedures can be performed alone or combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures. During this consultation, a thorough examination of the forehead, face and neck in general will be carried out.

The objectives, benefits, results and alternatives without surgery will be discussed with Dr. Villamarín and then he will design a detailed and adapted treatment plan or tailor made for each patient. In the case of surgery, a preoperative procedure will be ordered and postoperative recommendations will be provided in accordance with the protocol for the procedure.

The procedure.

There are several techniques in neck rejuvenation surgery (assisted with endoscopy in selected cases). Usually, in most cases of cervical fat accumulation in young people with good skin elasticity, Dr. Villamarín prefers neck liposuction (neck lipo) by submental microincision (or under the chin). If the skin lacks elasticity, a neck lift can be added with platysmaplasty (repositioning the distended superficial muscle of the neck so that it correctly outlines and refines the neck) and lateral fixation of the muscle flap under the ears and by hidden microincision. In some cases it can be combined with soft mentoplasty (fat transposition or transfer or even alloplastic implant), facelift, lip lift, forehead lift or blepharoplasty Dr. Villamarín Madrid and Valencia.

Post Procedure Care

After the procedure, we will begin medication and post-operative recommendations and you will return to the comfort of your home or hotel room. Medications, physical measures, and cold packs will be used to reduce swelling for the first two days after the procedure. Hilotherapy, as well as the hyperbaric chamber, are innovative treatments especially indicated for patients with cardiovascular problems and ex-smokers, which favor postoperative healing and that Dr.Villamarín optionally recommends after some of his procedures. There will be follow-up as per protocol to monitor healing and make sure all your questions are answered.

Recovery

Recovery is mainly related to swelling and in rare cases with bruising. Recovery typically takes 3-4 weeks, depending on the procedures performed, and we recommend planning 4 weeks off work or social engagements to allow plenty of time to recover.

Minor swelling continues to improve steadily for up to several weeks after the procedure. Exercise can be resumed 4 weeks after the procedure, depending on the nature of the activity and the degree of inflammation involved.

What to expect from Madrid and Valencia neck rejuvenation?
